Custom Printed Fabric Labels for Clothing Brands and Garment Production
A fabric label often needs to carry more than a logo. It may also show the size, garment details or several lines of care information in very little space. LOVECOLOUR produces custom printed fabric labels for apparel brands, garment factories and sourcing teams. We review the artwork, fabric feel, finished size, fold and sewing position together, then prepare a quote around the information your label actually needs to display.
What Is a Printed Fabric Label?
A printed fabric label has text or artwork applied to a fabric-based label rather than formed with woven logo threads. This makes printing useful when a project includes small lettering, multiple lines of information, detailed artwork or content that varies between garment styles.
Printed fabric labels may serve as main brand labels, size tabs or care and content labels. The right label depends on its location: a neck label that may touch the skin has different requirements from an information label sewn into a side seam. Explore our broader printed labels range if your project also needs barcodes, QR codes or other variable information.

Choose the Label Material by Placement
Do not select a label base only because it looks good in a flat photograph. Ask where it will be sewn and whether it will touch the wearer. Smooth fabric options are worth evaluating for a neck or side-seam label; other fabric textures may be better suited to an exterior brand tab. The exact base material and printing process should be confirmed against the artwork and garment requirements before production.
For a new clothing line, request a physical material and print sample when hand feel matters. Ask the garment factory to place that sample on the intended seam. A clear print is useful; a label that feels uncomfortable in the finished garment is not.
Keep Small Text Readable at the Finished Size
Printed labels are often selected for care details because they can carry more text than a small woven logo label. Even so, printing does not make unlimited information readable in a tiny space. Font size, contrast, line spacing, fabric surface and final label dimensions all affect the result.
Send the complete, approved wording rather than a screenshot of a draft label. We review the layout at its actual production size and may recommend a longer label, a different fold or a simpler arrangement if the text is crowded. Keep essential information away from cut edges and the part of the label that will disappear into a garment seam.
Production note: The buyer’s product or compliance team should approve the final care wording, fiber information and destination-market content. Our production review checks whether the supplied text fits and remains legible; it does not determine the legal wording for the finished garment.
Printed Fabric Label or Woven Label?
| Buyer requirement | Printed fabric label | Woven label |
|---|---|---|
| Several lines of small text | Often the more practical option to review | May require more space or simplified wording |
| Logo with a textile weave appearance | Artwork appears as print on a fabric base | Logo is formed with woven threads |
| Frequent changes to size or product information | Useful to evaluate, with each version clearly specified | Each design change also requires artwork review |
| Material against the skin | Assess the chosen base, cut edge and print on a garment sample | Assess weave, fold and edge feel on a garment sample |
Some brands use a woven main logo label and a separate printed care label. That arrangement keeps the brand presentation and information layout suited to their different jobs. Compare our custom woven labels if you are planning both pieces.
Plan the Fold and Sewing Allowance
A center-fold label can put content on two visible faces when sewn into a seam. A cut label or another fold may be more appropriate for a different placement. Before production, confirm which side faces out, where the garment factory will stitch, and whether the dimensions on your drawing refer to the unfolded label or its visible area after sewing.
For care labels with several garment sizes or languages, provide the layout for every version. Mark the version name or SKU on the purchase order and packing instructions so the correct labels reach the correct production line.
What Affects the Price of Printed Fabric Labels?
The quotation depends on label dimensions, base material, print requirements, number of colors or artwork details, finishing, quantity and the number of separate versions. A project with one common design is different from one with several sizes, languages or garment compositions, even if the combined quantity is the same.
Changes to approved wording also matter. Before a repeat order, compare the new garment specification against the previous label artwork. Updating the garment fabric without updating its printed content is an avoidable purchasing mistake. Our repeat-order guidance explains how approved production details support consistency.
Sampling and Production Checks
Our workflow starts with artwork and content review, followed by material and construction confirmation, production artwork, sampling where required, buyer approval, bulk production, inspection and packing. A physical sample is useful when the label will touch the skin, contains dense text, uses important brand colors or needs a new fold.
For printed fabric labels, we focus on text accuracy against the approved file, legibility at finished size, print placement, material appearance, cut or fold alignment, correct quantities by version and packing identification. If your garment factory will receive several versions, send a clear SKU breakdown before packing is approved. Learn more about our artwork review, sample approval and quality-control approach.
Who Uses Custom Printed Fabric Labels?
- Apparel brands use printed brand or size labels when the artwork contains fine detail or style-specific information.
- Garment manufacturers order care and content labels against approved product specifications for each production run.
- Uniform suppliers coordinate label wording and sizes across several garment styles.
- Fabric accessory brands add printed labels where product information needs to stay with a sewn item.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I print on a fabric label?
Depending on the chosen material and available space, the artwork may include a logo, size, product information or buyer-approved care text. Send the complete content for layout review.
Are printed fabric labels suitable for small text?
They are often a practical choice for detailed text, but readability still depends on the finished size, fabric surface, contrast and spacing. Approve a sample when the text is dense.
Can I choose a soft label for a garment neckline?
Tell us the label placement and hand-feel requirement. The material, cut edges and final sewn position should be assessed using a physical garment sample.
Can I order several sizes or languages?
Yes, separate versions can be reviewed. Provide the final artwork, wording and quantity for each version, plus the SKU names required for packing.
Can you check whether my care instructions are legally correct?
Your product or compliance team should approve the required wording for each destination market. We review the approved content for production layout and legibility.
Can I approve a sample before bulk production?
Sampling can be arranged according to the project. It is particularly useful for material feel, small text, colors and new folds; cost and timing are confirmed in the quotation.
What are the MOQ and production time?
The figures for this specific label are confirmed after the material, artwork, number of versions, quantity and sample requirements are reviewed.
What information do you need for a quote?
Send your artwork and final wording, label placement, desired finished size, preferred material feel, fold, quantity by version, packing requirements and delivery deadline.
